hulk 182

The top-selling comic book last month was the Hulk 182

Hulk 182 climbed to the top of the best-seller list in June. But what’s behind this sudden jump in popularity? And why are collectors and people who sell comic books giving Hulk #182 so much attention right now?

The Hulk comic series

The original Incredible Hulk comic series began in 1962, created by a legendary duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Fun and unexpected fact: Hulk wasn’t even green at first – he was gray in The Incredible Hulk #1, but printing issues forced Marvel to change his color by issue #2. That first issue introduced Bruce Banner, a scientist caught in a gamma blast, who transforms into a monster when angry – something like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

The original run only lasted six issues before being canceled, but Hulk came back through Tales to Astonish, eventually getting his own solo title back in 1968.

Hulk’s series became quite popular in the 70s and 80s, with a focus on less-popular, darker themes like identity, isolation, and control. Most notable arcs include Planet Hulk and its more chaotic sequel, World War Hulk, where he returns to Earth absolutely furious and nearly unstoppable.

He’s had big team-ups too – fighting alongside or against the Avengers, Wolverine, even Silver Surfer. And let’s not forget awesome Hulk #181 where Wolverine made his first full appearance. The Hulk’s never just been about SMASHING things. Hulk actually is one of the most tragic and “layered” characters in the Marvel Universe.

The Incredible Hulk 182

The Hulk 182, published in December 1974, often lives in the shadow of the #181. This issue picks up right after Wolverine’s first full battle with Hulk and actually includes a small final-panel cameo of Wolverine leaving the scene. So technically it’s Wolverine’s third appearance.

Written by Len Wein and drawn by Herb Trimpe, Incredible hulk 182 brings focus back to Bruce Banner. After all the chaos with Wolverine and Wendigo, Hulk ends up in a small Canadian town, where he meets a kind man named “Crackajack” Jackson. Incredible hulk #182 is one of those more emotional stories where Hulk isn’t just a monster – he’s lost, lonely, and just wants peace. Of course, trouble follows, and things get explosive.
