My wife Tania brought me to this place for the first time yesterday morning and absolutely love this place! This was her second time coming here. The comic books, the Funko pops, and action figures are very reasonably priced! Funkos are $5 and action figures are $10. The worker Mike was really nice and knowledgeable. Came here once to sell my comic books and another time to sell my basketball cards. Pete went over the value of my items based on condition and what I could get if I sold them myself, which I didn’t want to do. He gave me a fair price for everything and I was happy with it. Following over thirty years of active collecting and an additional twenty years of boxes collecting dust in my bedroom, I finally decided that the time had come to part with my precious collection. Searching on-line I came upon Comic Buying Center, gave them a call, and am glad I did. Mike came down to my place at the agreed upon time, looked through each of my boxes to see what I had, gave me what I considered to be a fair offer, wrote the check and hauled away all the boxes. I found the entire process to be quite pleasant and appreciated both his professionalism and knowledge of comics. I needed to finally purge my comics collection for space since I haven’t touched the boxes since I moved 5 years ago. I came across an ad on Reddit and decided to send in an inquiry for an appraisal. The next day I got a call and they walked me through the process, how they price the books for both buying and selling, and informed me that I could also sell video games and systems.
I scheduled my appraisal with them and brought in a bunch of short boxes, a couple long boxes, a PS3, and some games. Roughly an hour later, I walked out with a check that I thought was extremely fair. I was very happy with the experience and if I ever have an unwieldy comics collection that I need to unload again, I will happy bring it in.

Highly recommend if you are looking to sell your comic collection… I had a large collection of comics and spoke with Mike briefly on the phone – was thoughtful and informative, so I made an appointment to take it to the next step… Was thoroughly impressed with the process – spent about 2 hours with Mike looking up all kinds of sales data on various comics in the collection and also learned a lot about their process. I was presented a very reasonable offer, and after a little negotiating, ended up with a final offer everyone was happy with. While I have been out of comics for a while, the stores I dealt with in the past would never have put as much time and effort into something like this. If you are looking to sell your collection, this is the only place you need to go.
These guys are awesome! We went in looking for some retro games and what we found was a gold mine. The prices were very fair for what we bought considering the quality and condition of everything. They even had some very hard to find games. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and don’t want to get price gouged on retro games.

I brought in some old NES games to sell and had no idea what any were worth. Dorian did a pretty quick evaluation of the games, while I looked around the store and explained what he could offer and how he got to those numbers. I was really impressed by Dorian’s extensive knowledge of video games, as well as the transparency of the whole process. I left feeling like I got a very fair price. I would highly recommend!

We found a bunch of 1940’s-era comics in my late-father’s belongings and took them here to sell. Peter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, explaining what the comics were worth and why. I decided I would probably sell to CBC after hearing about their program of setting out lightly picked boxes (major keys pulled) at five bucks a book at the beginning of the month and then dropping the price to a buck on remaining stock at the end of the month. Cool way to keep the collectors engaged and give them a shot at some nice finds. Those are the kind of people you want to do business with.
If you are selling a collection, the biggest difference between having a positive experience and a bad one is in setting realistic expectations. I told Mike I wanted us both to do well in the transaction and that I know guide prices often don’t reflect market realities. After that, it was a mellow process marked by good conversation.
The price we negotiated was a fair one and I felt this collection–which I built from the ages of 7 to 16 from a combo of diligently buying new books and making the rounds of second-hand stores back in the days when you could stumble on an entire box of Silver Age superhero titles for cover price–was going to a good home.
If I sent the major keys out to be graded and sold them individually on eBay, I probably could have tripled the payout, but I don’t have the time or inclination to do that. CBC will very likely double the money, which is perfectly fair. The collection was assembled with passion and I smile at the thought of collectors going through my 15 long boxes and fishing out some gems.
I would recommend these guys to any collector looking to sell. If I was still a kid, I’m sure I’d be camped out there on the first day of every month. Thanks, Mike.

Very impressed with the tons of comics here! Originally came to sell some magic cards and a few old video game gems. Dorian took good care and time with my cards and gave a very fair offer. Their $5 Trade Paperback section is my favortie part of the store and I’ve bought multiple from them over the past few years. Best value on old video games and systems in town! Selling and buying, they know their stuff here and make sure all customers are taken care of! I wanted to max my old Nintendo game collection value – but FB Marketplace was intense and GameStop offers pennies – then I was lucky enough to hear about the Comic Buying Center. I am very happy with the trade we made and even scooped up some new treasures while I was there.

Fantastic experience today. Went to sell most of my collection and was met by amazing staff who helped me bring in all my stuff. I’ve been collecting rare comic book slabs for about 6 months now. My son (4.5) has seen them and kept asking if we could read one. I looked up a place locally that carried them since I’d bought most of them from online auction sites. This was the first one that popped up. We went to get him his very first TMNT comic and right when we walked in we were greeted by an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. (they really leaned in to make it a special experience for him. The owner Peter, came over and also showed me their collection of CGC Slabs and it was extensive. The epitome of geeked out Comic Capitalism. For those of us who grew up with these incredible pieces of art AND storytelling, this is the quintessential distribution center for collectors and just plain nostalgic folk. There are incredible displays for the wandering eye and bins and bins of cost effective illustrated options. Every imaginable comic and illustrated novel….available here. Collectibles galore. Should at least do 65% and the rest wanted to pay 150…only go if your desperate..can sell higher end comics yourself. I wanted to give a big shout out to the Comic Buying Center in Libertyville. I recently decided to part with a 251 issue comic book collection that I inherited 7 years ago when my father passed. I first did my own research with the Overstreet Guide. I subsequently brought my collection in for a free evaluation. I interacted with Mike and Pete and they were extremely knowledgable and professional. I felt that they offered me a fairly valuation for my collection which contained some rare and marketable issues. I chose to seek out a second opinion from a local comic book seller which was a nightmare. I was advised that I had nothing of value and offered $100 for my entire collection. This was either a dishonest attempt to obtain my collection for essentially nothing or the owner doesn’t really know his business. Peter is awesome. I highly recommend his shop. I had a large comic collection that I had been hanging on to since the mid-90s, and I finally decided to sell it. As he appraised my collection, Peter took the time to explain to me what some of the key comics were worth and why. I found him to be very knowledgeable and very honest ( something you won’t always find from people in his line of work).

I came here on my lunch break and this place is awesome! Staff was super friendly. The selection of comics and trades was insane. Even their binder of MTG cards had a great selection. I plan on going back very soon!
Wonderful experience at Comic Buying Center today! I contacted Mike and we set an appointment to possibly sell my comics. Mike was so knowledgeable and friendly. He showed me around the store, offered me something to drink and walked me thru the buying process. HONEST. Very refreshing to experience. He offered me a great and fair price and we were done. I was recently tasked with selling the large comics collection (around 7000 comics), of a relative’s estate. It was almost all DC silver age comics. Peter came to my home in Wisconsin and carefully walked through the process with me and made a very fair offer that day. Randomly stopped by because we saw the “Comics 4 Less Store OPEN” sign on the street. A little weird to get into the building because there’s no other signage, but the comics inside were awesome! $2 for issues, $5 for trades. Great quality and selection. Really nice guys too! Definitely will come back.
