x-men 100

The top selling comic book last month was The X-Men 100

This classic issue suddenly got back into the list of popular sales in September. But why? Why are buyers and those who like to sell comic books now chasing x-men 100? It might have something to do with its legendary battle…with whom? We’ll get to it shortly!

The X-Men comic series

The original X-Men comic series debuted in 1963, created by a legendary duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The concept was ahead of its time – mutants born with extraordinary powers, feared and misunderstood by society. The powers came not from the magic or gods, but from nature. More precisely, from their genes. Led by Professor Charles Xavier, the team represented diversity and struggle against prejudice long before those themes became common. The early lineup included Cyclops, Jean Grey (aka Marvel Girl), Beast, Iceman, and Angel. The debut issue introduced the original team and their mentor, Professor X, as well as their first standoff against Magneto. The series hit massive popularity in the 1970s, especially after writer Chris Claremont and artist Dave Cockrum, later joined by John Byrne, took over. Under Claremont, X-Men became Marvel’s flagship title. Numerous iconic and complex storylines were introduced, like “The Dark Phoenix Saga,” “Days of Future Past,” and “God Loves, Man Kills.” The series also had some incredible collaborations, including crossovers with titles like Avengers and Fantastic Four.

More about X-Men #100 issue

X-Men 100, released in August 1976, is a very well-known issue. It was written by Chris Claremont with art by Dave Cockrum. X-men #100 puts the original X-Men (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Beast, and Angel) against the new team – Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Banshee. But there’s a twist! Those classic members are actually robot duplicates built by Sentinels, testing the strength of Xavier’s recruits. X-men issue 100 is rather chaotic with lots of action that captures the tension between generations – old versus new, tradition versus change. It also has iconic moments, like the first-ever “Fastball Special” move between Wolverine and Colossus, which became one of the most (if not the most) famous tag-team moves in superhero history. The x-men #100 cover is also legendary – two teams clashing in mirrored stances.
