We buy comic books published from 1930 to 1979 and are most interested in Superhero, Sci-Fi, Horror, and War comics.
Pete Przysiezny, owner of Comic Buying Center, has been buying and selling comics and collectibles for over 30 years. He lives in Northern Illinois and specializes in buying large comic book collections. He has a vast knowledge of all eras and types of comic books ranging from the 1930s to the 2000s. Pete spent his childhood going to comic book conventions with his father, so you could say he was raised in the industry. Pete and his wife, Jessica started the business and continue to work together on building the business. They have one child and enjoy traveling all over the world. Pete is a collector of comic books, sport cards, star wars toys and video games..
We are mainly looking for comics published between 1930 and 1979. However, there are many comics from that time-period that have little collectable value due to either lack of demand or low condition/grade. We do buy newer comics, but most of the comics from that era do not yet have much of a collectable value. We will be happy to appraise any comic book collection for you.
Yes, we are also interested in sport cards printed before 1970, comic related toys before 1986, video games, and Magic The Gathering cards. If you think you have something we might be interested in, give us a call at 1-888-88-COMIC or submit the Free Online Appraisal Form and we can discuss this with you.
Yes, we do make house calls if your collection is too large or you are unable to drive to our showroom. Please call us at 1-888-88-COMIC to make sure that we would be interested in your comic collection. If we are interested, we will be happy to make a house call.
Yes, usually grading comics increases their value, however most of the times it doesn’t increase the value by more than the grading fee. If you have never graded a comic before, it is important for you to understand how grading works and what constitutes a certain grade. You can search online for already graded examples of comics to see what a certain grade looks like. You can always stop by our office and we can show you examples of graded comics.
After we evaluate your collection, we make an offer on the spot. You will be paid right away.
We always want to assist you with any help we can. We provide a no strings attached free appraisal service for you. We are available anytime to do the free appraisal but we would prefer if you called ahead to set up a meeting. Please call us at 1-888-88-COMIC or message us on our website.
Most comics that are from 1980 to current are not worth more than their cover price. Most comics from this era are hard to sell for even $1.00. There are exceptions to that rule. For example, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles # 1 from 1984 can be worth over $100,000!
We either sell the comics at our store in Libertyville, IL or we sell them online through auction houses or sites like eBay. There are many different ways of selling comics and we have employees who have a lot of experience in finding the best ways to sell comics.
Comics before 1980 usually have the best chance to be worth a decent amount of value. Usually the superhero, horror, sci-fi, and romance comics are the most valuable. Comics from this era can range from $1 up to $5,000,000. Condition and demand dictates the values.
Almost every comic has their date listed on the bottom of the first interior page of the comic. It is sometimes hard to find, but if you look in the paragraphs at the bottom of the first page, it will be there. Sometimes with newer comics, the dates are posted on a random page.
The comics that have the best chance of being valuable have a cover price of 25 cents or less. The price is usually on the top left or top right of each comic cover.
